What is a Caring Clown?
A Caring Clown's objective is to lighten the mood of their audience. From
the moment we enter any venue, Call Us Clowns are a positive force. We are trained to "read"
a room, listening and using gentle humor to make true connections with the people who need us. We are always professional
and respectful, and are trained to be sensitive to the environment and its occupants.
Our form of entertainment may be spontaneous and playful at times, or we may offer a willing ear,
a hug or a shoulder to cry on. We are recognized as valuable members of the healing team, the education team and the
entertainment team of many organizations. Our currency is a smile.
There are many legends as to why clown organizations are called "Alleys."
One such legend is that the other circus performers, unhappy with the smell of the greasepaint, and the dust of the
powder used to set the make-up of the clowns, required that the clowns put on their make-up in the alley between the dressing-room
tent and the Big Top tent where the performance was held, and so the clowns were forced to gather in the Alley.
Another legend refers to the French word, Allez, or "Let's go," which refers to the
fact that the clowns were always ready to go when the scenes changed, or an emergency occurred, under the Big Top.
What is Alley of the Year?
The highly coveted Alley of the Year award from the World Clown Association
is a prestigeous award granted to only one Clown Alley each year. It is presented based upon quality of clown activity.
Call Us Clowns was chosen to be Alley
of the Year by the World Clown Association. This honor is bestowed upon the Alley that
is judged, and voted on by their peers around the world, to be the best. It encompasses how much and what each Alley
does for its communities, the clowning quality, training and educational standards it meets and how well the
Alley lives up to its mission statement and policies.
Call Us Clowns is justly proud of all the diverse
services, love and laughter our Caring Clowns have contributed as we continue to preserve, promote and present the time
honored and respected profession of clowning.
